S’mores - Where, When, How?

No camping trip is complete without a campfire, and when there is a campfire you’re sure to find s’mores!

The first official recipe for S’mores was actually featured in the 1927 Girl Scouts manual. Believe it or not, this tasty delicacy was originally called “some mores.”

In 1829 Sylvester Graham, from New Jersey, originally invented the Graham Cracker as part of a diet. Here we are gobbling these camp side snacks up like a sweet snack.

Loch Ness Monster – Canada's Very Own

I'm sure we’ve all heard of the infamous Loch Ness Monster all the way from the Scottish Highlands. Ole Nessie seems to have a twin that apparently lives with us here in Canada!

Although no one has seen this creature, the snake-like amphibian, Ogopogo, supposedly lives in Okanagan, British Columbia.

So if you're ever camping in the area be sure to keep a lookout for Ogopogo.

Tents – Recreation or Survival?

Believe it or not, tents were used at least as far back as the early Iron Age.

Back then they probably weren’t used for camping, more so used for survival. They were made from leather and other strong materials to protect themselves from the elements.

Long before they were used for recreation, the first evidence of tent construction dates back to 40,000 BC.

Camping – Only if The Price is Right

Any family vacation can become a little pricy, but as long as you’re having fun with those around you, it'll be a memory that will last a lifetime.

However, if you happen to win the lottery, be sure to check out the most expensive camping spot in the world! And you won't believe where it is. It's right here in Canada at the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort on Vancouver Island! A single night here can cost you up to $3,900!

Wow, that is expensive! But don’t be discouraged yet. The average person only spends around $128.26 on their first camping trip. Camping is definitely an affordable way to take a much-needed vacay away from home, and you don’t need to break the bank to have a good time.

RV or Tent?

Whether you go camping in a tent or RV, it's always a good time being outdoors.

However, if you live in Canada, you know that it can get really cold, really fast. If you prefer an RV over a tent you're not the odd one out.

Statistics show that 64% of RV owners in the world are Canadian campers! And the craziest part is that most of them use their RVs during the brisk winters.

If you live in Canada, you know that your RV must be winterproofed before putting it through Canadian weather. That’s why RV’s from CampMart are built to last!
